Work Brain Don't Work!
DEMAND THAT WE GET PAID
IN FULL, ON TIME, EVERY TIME!
PICKET at the SEWAGE PLANT
-- 9300 W. JEFFERSON --
TUESDAY, JULY 20TH – 3:30 to 4:30
On Friday July 9th, dozens of DWSD workers didn’t get our check on time, AGAIN! Some of us finally got paid an hour after day shift was over, others waited days longer. Many people whose checks weren’t right that day still have not been properly compensated.
There is a long sorry history of payroll mess-ups in the City, but ever since the Work Brain time capture system was imposed on us on March 9, 2009 (over Union objections), things have gone from stupid to absolutely nuts!
Workers are under constant threat of write ups and suspensions for “poor work performance”, but those standards don’t apply to supervisors who screw up the payroll. Management should never have gotten rid of our time keepers and forced our supervisors to do time keeping duties. Management paid at least $23 million for the Work Brain system so they could eliminate many of the time keeper clericals, and our pay checks have been jacked ever since.
Remember, Work Brain is owned by Compuware owner Peter Karmanos who “loaned” a bunch of money to Kwame Kilpatrick to leave office and gave him a high-paying job in Texas.
It’s bad enough that Mayor Bing is getting ready to impose outrageous wage and benefit cuts on us – is it too much to ask that we get our reduced pay on time?
Local 207 tried for many months to get AFSCME Council 25 to file a lawsuit over Work Brain, now we have done it ourselves. We are waiting for a judge to be assigned to the case. But winning legal cases requires taking it to the streets so the judge understands that we are serious. Come to the picket and demand the right to get our money when it is due to us!
